This is a voluntary, unremunerated (not paid) post based in Ireland

 

Purpose of the Role:

The Board provides strategic oversight and governance to ensure the organization achieves its mission and operates with integrity and transparency. A Board Member to act as a representative voice for individuals and families who have benefited from Sensational Kids therapy services, ensuring their perspectives and experiences inform decision-making at board level.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocacy & Representation:
    • Provide insight into the needs and experiences of beneficiaries to help shape organizational strategy and policies.
    • Ensure that board decisions reflect the interests and well-being of those receiving services.
  • Governance & Oversight:
    • Participate actively in board meetings, contributing to discussions and decisions on organizational direction, sustainability, and service delivery.
    • Uphold the principles of good governance and comply with legal and ethical standards.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Promote Sensational Kids’ mission and values within the community.
  • Strategic Input:
    • Offer unique insights based on lived experience as a past or current beneficiary to help improve programs and services.

 

Person Specification:

  • Essential:
    • Has been a beneficiary of Sensational Kids therapy services (or a parent/guardian of a beneficiary).
    • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to Sensational Kids’ mission.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team setting.
    • Willingness to dedicate time for board meetings and occasional events.
  • Desirable:
    • Previous experience in advocacy, community engagement, or voluntary roles.
    • Understanding of governance and non-profit operations (training can be provided).

 

Commitment:

  • Time: 3-4 hours per month to attend monthly online board meetings per year, plus occasional involvement in events.
