This is a voluntary, unremunerated (not paid) post based in Ireland
Purpose of the Role:
The Board provides strategic oversight and governance to ensure the organization achieves its mission and operates with integrity and transparency. A Board Member to act as a representative voice for individuals and families who have benefited from Sensational Kids therapy services, ensuring their perspectives and experiences inform decision-making at board level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocacy & Representation:
- Provide insight into the needs and experiences of beneficiaries to help shape organizational strategy and policies.
- Ensure that board decisions reflect the interests and well-being of those receiving services.
- Governance & Oversight:
- Participate actively in board meetings, contributing to discussions and decisions on organizational direction, sustainability, and service delivery.
- Uphold the principles of good governance and comply with legal and ethical standards.
- Community Engagement:
- Promote Sensational Kids’ mission and values within the community.
- Strategic Input:
- Offer unique insights based on lived experience as a past or current beneficiary to help improve programs and services.
Person Specification:
- Essential:
- Has been a beneficiary of Sensational Kids therapy services (or a parent/guardian of a beneficiary).
- Passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to Sensational Kids’ mission.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Willingness to dedicate time for board meetings and occasional events.
- Desirable:
- Previous experience in advocacy, community engagement, or voluntary roles.
- Understanding of governance and non-profit operations (training can be provided).
Commitment:
- Time: 3-4 hours per month to attend monthly online board meetings per year, plus occasional involvement in events.
