Helen joined our team at Sensational Kids at our child development centre in Clonakilty, West Cork in early June 2023. She graduated with an honour’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy from University College Cork in 2018. Helen has experience working with clients of all ages. She has worked with children in both primary care settings and disability services. She has also worked with adults in an acute hospital and in a residential centre for adults with an intellectual disability.
In addition, Helen has planned and conducted both individual and group therapy. Helen has worked with teachers and with other healthcare professionals. Furthermore, she has participated in teacher and parent training sessions to provide them with strategies to support communication and language development.
Helen has experience in the assessment and treatment of feeding, eating, drinking, and swallowing (FEDS) difficulties. She provides education and training on The International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative to staff, clients, and their families.
Helen has always been interested in working with children with a wide range of needs. Helen takes a holistic approach to her care by working closely with the individual, as well as the adults around the child.
