Description
You can use Gaitspots either directly on bare feet or over shoes, depending on the child’s size.
Here’s how to use them:
- For Heelstrike: Slip the elastic loop over the top of the foot, positioning the squeaker over the bottom heel. Secure the hook and loop strap snugly.
- For Push Off: Reverse the squeaker so it sits over the ball of the foot.
Here are some cool ways to use Gaitspots:
- For Toe-Walkers: Place Gaitspots in the heelstrike position to provide auditory feedback during ankle dorsiflexion.
- To Encourage Push Off: Use Gaitspots in the push off position to encourage tiptoe walking and plantarflexion.
- Jumping and Hopping: Utilize Gaitspots for auditory feedback during two-foot jumps or hopping exercises.
- Creativity: Get creative with Gaitspot activities. Set up stepping targets using tape, chalk, or markers.
- Motor Planning: Use squeaker feedback to work on motor planning. For example, place Gaitspots on alternate feet and have the child do sequences like heel-toe, heel-heel, toe-toe, etc.
- Animal Walks: Use Gaitspots for animal walks, adjusting the position for different types of movements. For example, heelstrike for “heavy” animals like horses, and push off for “light” animals like birds.
