Sandra Gray, Chartered Psychologist (Psychological Society of Ireland) has recently joined the Sensational Kids team in Claremorris. Sandra is an Educational Psychologist with many years of experience across a range of settings. She has a background in teaching children and adults with special needs and has always had an interest in identifying these needs and supporting families access appropriate services.
Sandra was previously employed as a NEPS psychologist in Mayo and Sligo where she worked with schools to support their work at an individual, class and whole school level. In addition, Sandra has worked with the HSE for 18 years in both Primary Care and Early Intervention services working with children aged 2 – 18. Previous work experience also includes employment with voluntary agencies who have supported a range of special needs in their community including Enable Ireland, NTDI, Ability West, Friends & Families and Sligo and Adult Literacy services. Sandra has also provided training to SNA’s. More recently Sandra has worked in private practice on a part-time basis and has been recruited to the NEPS panel of private practitioners.
In her role at Sensational Kids, Sandra will provide educational psychological assessments for children and adolescents who are struggling to achieve same age goals across the broad range of the curriculum (physical, emotional, social and academic). She will carry out assessments to help identify their needs in consultation with school and parents. For more complex presentations it may be necessary to carry out some additional screening and to support parents to make onward referral, if necessary.
