Eoghan graduated as a Speech & Language Therapist from University College Cork in 2018. Since graduating Eoghan has worked with children and adults of all ages who present with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down’s Syndrome, Intellectual/Learning Disability and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Through his work in private practice, Eoghan has supported children who present with developmental delays, speech delays, language Impairments and many other conditions. Eoghan has a keen interest in working with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and adopts strategies from the Hanen programme and Intensive Interaction CPD training he has previously attended in his sessions.
With an interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), Eoghan has supported a number of people to use both high-tech and low-tech AAC devices. Eoghan has previously supported people to use an eye-gaze device to support their communicative needs.
Eoghan has been involved in the changeover of FEDS guidelines from the Irish Consistency Descriptors for Modified Foods and Fluids 2009 to The International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative. Eoghan has organised and facilitated IDDSI training for staff and family members, conducting in person training for the various tests for foods, and flow test for liquids.
In addition Eoghan has experience working in a paediatric disability service as a Speech and Language Therapist as part of an Early Intervention team. During this employment Eoghan developed extensive experience with the implementation of a variety of communication interventions to children with developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), and Downs Syndrome to name but a few. Eoghan enjoys carrying out joint sessions with other members of the Sensational Kids team.
Outside of work Eoghan enjoys all things GAA as a qualified referee of juvenile GAA and team coach and was awarded Country Tipperary Referee of the Year in 2016! More recently, Eoghan was part of the Management team which guided Tipperary U14 teams to wins in the Tony Forristal and Sonny Walsh Competitions in 2019.
