We have a wonderful opportunity to lead our clinical team at Sensational Kids and to make a difference to the lives of children.


Job Purpose

This role is to take overall responsibility for clinical services provided from our four child development centres. You will be responsible for ensuring that families and children receive an excellent experience from our clinical services. You will have the opportunity to lead and support our multi-disciplinary therapy team. You will provide strategic leadership and direction which results in the delivery of safe, effective, efficient, quality services. This role also involves taking overall responsibility for driving the continued growth of our clinical services nationally.


Job Description

Reporting directly to the CEO you will be part of the newly developed senior management team. You will support the efficient functioning and growth of clinical services, with a strong emphasis on good clinical governance and an excellent customer experience.


Job Description Details

Professional / Clinical /Administrative

  • Working closely with the CEO you will be responsible for planning the development of clinical services to meet the company objectives to grow and scale our social impact nationally.
  • To develop services in line with our vision to be a leading provider of sensory integration services.
  • To provide clinical leadership for the team and promote evidence based family centred practice.
  • To be responsible for agreeing and implementing clinical pathways including the management of referral intakes, waiting lists, client allocations inclusive of assessment, intervention, review pathways and discharge processes.
  • To be the point of contact for or be the liaison role for parents / families if the circumstances require
  • To ensure the professional development and training needs of all employees are identified and met based on the requirement of the service.
  • To act as a member of the multidisciplinary team to implement the planning, provision, and development of family centred, quality services.
  • Responsible for facilities management as appropriate, ensuring clinical and non-clinical spaces and other resources are appropriate to service user needs and used to maximum effect.
  • To support, share advice and liaise with our clinical team with respect to the delivery of the clinical services.
  • To be actively involved in leading and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Day to day management of growing multidisciplinary team of therapists, and sub-contractors
  • Managing the performance, development and productivity of the clinical team including conducting regular appraisal reviews
  • Support and leadership to ensure that clinical KPIs are met.
  • To work with the team to identify team based goals in line with company objectives.
  • Recruitment and induction of clinical staff and clinical sub-contractors.
  • Approval of therapy CPD and training budgets.
  • To support our clinical team to plan their professional development in line with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
  • Approving time sheets & leave requests.
  • Run all staff meetings and communication with clinical staff.
  • To lead on any individual team based Standard Operating Procedures which may be required.
  • Overseeing the provision of clinical services including managing Service Level Agreements and working closely with the Head of Marketing & Business Development on therapy proposals for provision of services.
  • Reviewing and developing processes and policies and identifying areas for improvement across all functions to ensure efficiency.
  • To act as a point of contact with the Clinical Governance Committee.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, internal, and best-practice policies and procedures including child protection, GDPR, health and safety and the conduct of appropriate risk assessments; and ensuring therapy equipment maintenance, including the management of complaints, incidents, health and safety matters and child safeguarding processes.
  • To ensure that all staff receive adequate and appropriate clinical supervision.
  • To ensure that personal development plans are in place for all employed clinical team members.
  • Monitoring and managing clinical outputs and outcomes.
  • To ensure that our Impact Measurement Framework (currently being planned) is implemented by clinical team and to report on clinical outcomes.
  • To attend senior management team meetings as part of the senior management team.
  • To act as an advocate for the therapists and bring the real-life experience of working within a clinical setting to the management team.
  • To work with and lead the development and implementation of Policies, Protocols, Procedures and Guidelines
  • To liaise with professional discipline leads/line managers in relation to student and professional volunteer placements and to manage volunteer placements.
  • To be responsible for the H.R. Management pertaining to the service to include advising and participating in recruitment, selection and manpower planning, and ensure appropriate skill mix across the Children’s Service.
  • To develop a shared sense of commitment and participation among employees in the management of change.
  • To promote a culture that values respect in the workplace.
  • To analyse, project and anticipate demand for services and supports, and to plan and develop appropriate evidence based best practice responses for children and families.
  • Like all staff, you will always act as an ambassador for Sensational Kids.

Human Resources / Administrative

  • To be responsible for all the day-to-day operational work of the team(s) including certifying working hours and leave.
  • To play a role in the approved recruitment of employees. Be Responsible for the induction of new employees.
  • To liaise with the appropriate line manager/professional discipline lead if necessary regarding the performance of individual team members.
  • To monitor, assess and report on workforce trends through collection and analysis of activity data in order to ensure effective service planning and delivery within approved resources.
  • To actively monitor and intervene, where appropriate, in the management of attendance.
  • To co-operate where appropriate in managing all resources within an approved budget.
  • To ensure the appropriate maintenance of clinical and administrative records and support appropriate reporting arrangements.
  • To ensure compliance with legal requirements, organisational policies and procedures and other service matters affecting children, families and staff.
  • To engage in IT developments as they apply to service user and service administration.

Quality Risk & Safety:

  • To support employees in delivering high quality services through team working, team development and proactive quality and risk management.
  • To lead the services in maintaining a safe environment for children, families, employees and visitors by ensuring appropriate quality and risk assessment and reporting is in place.
  • To ensure implementation and adherence to established policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, infection control, etc.
  • To observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter which may be detrimental to service user’s care or well-being or may inhibit the efficient provision of care.
  • To ensure the care and safety of any equipment associated with service user care including maintenance to an appropriate standard.
  • To ensure that facilities within the service are kept in a clean and appropriate state.

Education and Training

  • To ensure the professional development and training needs of all employees are identified and met based on the requirement of the service.
  • Be responsible for strategy and policy on practice development, education and professional duties required by statute or determination.
  • Foster a high level of morale among employees by effective motivation and communication.
  • To manage mandatory and team training needs by working in consultation with the professional discipline leads
  • To ensure where appropriate that professional registration and professional development requirements are met.
  • To participate in the formulation of relevant standard operation procedures and organisational policies and procedures.
  • To engage in continuing professional development by keeping up to date with literature, recent research and new developments in management.
  • To assist in the development of knowledge, skill and competencies of all employees including students where appropriate.
  • Be familiar with the curriculum training programme for students and be aware of the clinical experience required to meet the needs of the programme/s.
  • To engage in performance review processes including personal development planning as appropriate.
  • To engage in IT developments as they apply to service user and service administration.

Qualifications & Experience


  • You should have Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy or Speech & Language Therapy or similar allied health professional and validation of that qualification to work in Ireland
  • You should have an innovative and creative approach to service delivery.
  • Experience leading a clinical team to meet both quantitative and qualitative targets
  • Experience working in clinical service development
  • Management level experience, such as a role similar to a Children’s Disability Network Manager
  • Experience in a variety of settings including a service similar to Sensational Kids
  • CORU Registration
  • The successful candidate will be Garda Vetted and references checked



Flexible working hours are available (35 hours per week)



This role can be managed by working remotely or by working from any of our four child development centres in Kildare, Monaghan, Mayo or West Cork.
