The Wipe Out Worries (WOW) programme run by play therapists is an exciting 8 week group programme for children who are experiencing stress, anxiety and worry.
The program aims to help children develop coping strategies and practice self-calming strategies.
Group programme for worried and anxious children
The Wipe Out Worries (WOW) programme is an exciting 8 week group programme for children, and their parents/carers. The WOW groups are aimed at children who are experiencing stress, anxiety and worry. The group is open to children of all abilities and put together to match and compliment the children’s strengths and needs.
The Wipe Out Worries Programme helps children to
• Use the language of play and drama to overcome their fears and worries
• Learn and practice self-calming strategies
• Use their creativity in developing useful coping strategies
• Implement the strategies consistently
• Recognize their successes and build on them
• Realise they are not alone
• Make connections with other children

• Talk to their children about anxiety in a way that helps
• Use S.O.O.T.H.E and S.U.P.P.O.R.T approaches
• Learn practical strategies to help manage stress
• Use playful interventions at home

Wipe Out Worries Programme Facilitators
Gayle Kearney, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Play Therapist and Counsellor
Gayle Kearney holds a Master’s Degree in Practice Based Play Therapy, a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Play Therapy. Gayle is accredited with the International Board of Examiners of Certified Play Therapists and the Irish Association of Play Therapy and Psychotherapy. Gayle has extensive experience working with children, parents and families. She has worked for the HSE, Barnardos, Child and Family Services, in an Early Intervention Team, and in community services. Currently she is a college lecturer, consultant and clinical supervisor. Gayle continues to work passionately as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Play Therapist, Supervisor, and Counsellor
Yvonne O’Neill, Play Therapist and Group Facilitator
Yvonne O’Neill Qualifications include, BA. Social Care Practice DIT, Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy CTC, and Diploma’s in Psychology & Counselling from NUI Maynooth. Yvonne is currently completing the MA Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy and Play Therapy for Children and Adolescents. Yvonne is a PAM of Irish Association of play and Psychotherapy. Yvonne has spent the past 17 years working with Children and Families in the community and Residential Setting. Yvonne has worked for the Probation Service, Department of Education, HSE, South Dublin County Council and has used Play Therapy in a joint initiative with a Public Health Nurse Team. At present Yvonne maintains her work with the HSE in Social Care. Yvonne has also giving training to foster group and for the local library.
Included in the cost
The cost of the programme is €300 per child.
Eight weekly group sessions with the child and parent lasting 1hr 30 minutes.
Three separate parent sessions to be held during the first, middle and last weeks of programme.
Parents and Children participate in each group.
When & Where
The next Wipe Out Worries Group take place at Sensational Kids, Kildare Town at regular intervals throughout the year, usually on Monday afternoons. The group is open to children from all over Ireland.

1) the application form and
2) the screen for child anxiety related disorders questionnaire
Return forms to Sensational Kids, Unit F2 Kildare Business Park, Kildare Town.
The therapist will place children into a suitable group based on applications and we will contact you to advise you if your application for a place on Wipe Out Worries programme has been successful or if we will have to hold your application until we can place your child in the next available appropriate group.
